From 1 January 2012, travellers making Short Visits to Sri Lanka are required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).

  • The ETA is initially limited to 30 days stay in Sri Lanka from the date of arrival although it may be extended for up to 6 months. The ETA is valid for 3 months.


  • An intended traveller visiting Sri Lanka for a short stay as a Tourist , for Business or In Transit must obtain an ETA prior to arrival.


  • Singapore and Maldives passport holders and Flight & Ship Crew members are exempted from the new ETA requirement. Travellers with existing valid visas, including Residence, Multiple Entry and Business visas, in their passports also do not need to apply for an ETA.


  • Children under 12 years are FREE - there is no fee. Email your children's details to info@visaconnect.com

    Sri Lanka ETA Terms & Conditions

    1. All ETA holders should be able to prove:

    (i) A return ticket to show at the port of entry in Sri Lanka (only if you are traveling by air).

    (ii) Evidence of sufficient funds to cover your expenses in Sri Lanka.

    2. Employment: Holder of ETA, should not engage in any form of employment, paid or unpaid, or in any trade or business other than specified in the ETA, during the period of his/her stay in Sri Lanka

    3. Communication: By using this site, you do authorize the Department of Immigration & Emigration Sri Lanka to contact you via e-mail, messaging, or any other electronic or non-electronic means of communication.
